Officials with Quinte Conservation have upgraded the watershed’s low water condition from a level one, to the more serious level two.
The environmental agency says the area has received only about 50% of its average rainfall over the past three months, which led to a meeting of the Water Response Team on Tuesday morning and eventually to increasing warning.
She says at this time they’re changing the terminology from “encouraging people to conserve water”, to “urging people to conserve”.
May-Anderson added that our area has never had a level 3 low water condition and if that happens, the Ministry of Natural Resources would be called in.
Some easy conservation tips include holding off on washing your car at home, or watering your lawn.
