Full field at 29th annual Medigas Celebrity Classic

It never rains (hardly ever) on the annual Medigas Celebrity Golf Challenge and it was dry when a full field of 180 teed it up at Trillium Wood Golf Course. While showers caught up with golfers later on, there weren’t enough to dampen the spirit of the 29 year event which has raised almost 3 million dollars to support local children with special needs and provide $5,000 scholarships to 7 area students moving on to post secondary education in pursuit of a career in the medical field. About $120,000 will be realized this year.

This year’s group of celebrities included hockey stars Wendell Clark, Danny Gare, Stephane Richer, Billy Smith, tournament founder Rick Meagher and 4 time Stanley Cup champion Paul Coffey. This is the first appearance for the Hall of Famer at the “Medigas” tournament and he was impressed.
