A mutual relationship spanning 20 years between the city of Belleville and Gunpo, South Korea was recognized on Friday afternoon at the Belleville Waterfront & Ethnic Festival.
As a token of appreciation for those 20 years of collaboration, Mayor Taso Christopher and members of Belleville Council presented Mayor Yoon-Joo Kim and the rest of the Gunpo delegates with an anniversary plaque and a planted maple tree.
The Maple Tree is our National Tree of Canada. It symbolizes wisdom, strength, promise and vitality among many other great qualities that shape our nation.
Shortly thereafter, Mayor Kim cooked up some delicious Gunpo food inside the Korean Food Tent for hungry festival-goers.
