On July 5, 2016 at 4:05 p.m. officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at the westbound Hwy 401 ONroute near the Camden East exit, Loyalist Township.
Information was provided that a bronze coloured Nissan Altima pulled into the ONroute and approached the gas pumps.
The driver struck a cement post designed to protect the pumps and revved the motor repeatedly in an attempt to advance.
The male driver backed the car away and pulled into a nearby parking lot.
Police attended the scene and arrested the male driver.
Charged with impaired driving, over 80 mgs. and having open liquor in a motor vehicle is a 50 year-old from Ottawa.
He was released from police custody on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on July 26, 2016.
