The dry weather in the Quinte region has local farmers “praying for rain” according to local officials.
Director of Grain Farmers of Ontario District 13, Lloyd Crowe, says some areas haven’t had rain since early May.
Crowe says it’s still early for soybeans and corn.
He says it’s not normally this dry so early in the summer season.
Rainfall in the Quinte area in June was just about half of what it was last year.
This followed a very dry month of May, during which only one-third of the usual amount of rain fell.
