This may be hard to believe. In fact you might not want to hear this at all but training camp is six weeks away for the Wellington Dukes. And they’ve been busy signing players for the upcoming Ontario Junior Hockey League season.
Five of them including Belleville native Evan Foley. The 18 year old Foley is coming off a big year with the Empire Junior “C” champion Port Hope Panthers where he scored 23 goals and 61 points in 39 games. He was the Rookie of the Year in the Empire League. In the playoffs Evan continued to be a force offensively as he posted 2 goals, 15 assists and 17 points during the Panthers Empire B Championship and runner-up finish for the Ontario Junior ‘C’ Schmalz Cup.
Also signing is Campbellford Rebels forward Brendan Rylott. The Cobourg, Ontario native finished 4th in team scoring with 10 goals, 9 assists and 19 points in 40 games. Rylott impressed Dukes staff this season with his speed and tenacity on a game to game basis at the Junior C level and has continued his strong play this spring with the CDHL Dukes.
18 year old Tyler Harrison from Kitchener, Centre Jackson Arcan from Barrie and defenceman Keegan Ferguson of Grafton have also signed with Wellington.
