Hastings County municipalities are concerned that any new provincial growth management plan could actually restrict their economic growth.
The province is considering a growth management plan for Eastern Ontario and has consultants interviewing the counties and cities about it.
Hastings County has told them Eastern Ontario needs a growth strategy to promote jobs and not restrict development in any way.

Pine says the rural municipalities are concerned about infrastructure issues.
Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline told council “the area must not be restricted like a greenbelt for Toronto.”
