There’s good news for some students looking for summer jobs.
Quinte Conservation has received four senior government grants to allow it to hire a total of 17 summer students.
Spokesperson Jennifer May-Anderson says they will have the opportunity to develop their skill sets since some of the jobs include technician assistant, communications assistant, summer education staff, and campground attendant.
Communications manager, Jennifer May-Anderson said, “We are pleased to have received funding to hire summer students. This will allow Quinte Conservation to thrive this summer. Having more people on our team will allow us to better achieve our goals of creating a healthy sustainable watershed in which nature and people can live in harmony.”
May-Anderson explained, “Not only are these summer students helping the organization, but they also have the opportunity to develop their skill sets. This will help them become leaders in our communities. Students are able to apply to jobs that fit their specific education programs. This means that summer students gain valuable mentorship and hands on experience from professionals in their field. Some of these jobs include GIS technician assistant, communications assistant, summer education staff, campground attendant, corporate services assistant and more.”
Employment grants from Canada Summer Jobs, Summer Employment Opportunities, and Youth Job Link assist Quinte Conservation in offering these opportunities.
May-Anderson added, “Summer student job postings can be found on our website in December. We encourage everyone who is interested to apply, as they could have the opportunity to help us achieve our initiatives while having the opportunity to explore their career interests.”
