Update @ 5:35 p.m. TUESDAY: CENTRAL HASTINGS OPP HAVE PROVIDED SOME INFORMATION REGARDING A FATALITY IN A REMOTE PART OF
LINGHAM LAKE AFTER MIDNIGHT TODAY. POLICE REPORT THAT TWO MEN WERE INSIDE A TRUCK IN THE LAKE WHEN IT ROLLED.
DEAD IS 28-YEAR-OLD BRANDON STRANG OF CAVAN-MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
Despite the best efforts of friends and emergency responders, a man has died after a truck somehow ended up in the waters of Lingham Lake, north of Tweed Monday evening.
The mishap occurred before midnight, and OPP, Paramedics, and the Tweed Fire Department arrived to the end of Lingham Lake Road after midnight Tuesday morning.
From the end of the road, firefighters and paramedics drove a truck carrying ATVs down a rough trail for about 20 minutes to where the victim and others were located near the lake.
Friends had been performing CPR on the man for some time, but to no avail.
The OPP called the Coroner’s Office just before 3:00 a.m.
A search and rescue helicopter from CFB Trenton had also been called in.
