When it comes to “spicy” you can bet on Mexican food, and that proved true at Belleville’s first-ever “Best Spicy Food” competition Tuesday.
Three restaurants were competing, Royal Haveli Flavours of India, Chilangos Mexican Restaurant and Boston Pizza Belleville.
Chilangos placed first, with Royal Haveli coming in second.
Organizer Councillor Mitch Panciuk says the idea is to honour the “hardworking” family business people.
The judges were CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker, Bill Glisky of Cogeco TV, Fire Chief Mark MacDonald, and nurse Donna Moher.
Panciuk hopes to expand the competition next year to other food specialties.
