Belleville’s electrical provider is hosting a community meeting tonight, to discuss a possible merger.
Veridian Corporation, which the municipality has a 13 percent stake in, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, to look at the benefits of amalgamating.
That amalgamation would be with Oshawa Power and Utilities and Whitby Hydro Energy.
If the group merged, they would become the fourth largest municipally owned electrical utility in the province.
Tonight’s meeting is taking place in the Fireplace meeting room at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
