Inmates at the Collins Bay Institution near Kingston have been locked down all night, after two inmates were assaulted in the medium security unit.
Details of the assaults weren’t released, but the increased security measures were put in place around 10:00 last night.
In a release today, Media Relations and Outreach Advisor Denise Allore says the OPP Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and Corrections Canada Staff are investigating the incident.
She says the CSC is also reviewing what happened and will look to improve its practices, to try and prevent similar incidents.
