The organization representing business in this area and across the province doesn’t like the proposed national Canada Pension Plan expansion any better than it did the proposed Ontario pension plan.
Speaking on CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker show Tuesday, CEO of the Belleville and District Chamber of Commerce Bill Saunders says the expanded CPP could have a devastating effect on the economy.
Also appearing on the Lorne Brooker show was local Progressive Conservative MPP Todd Smith who also disagreed with increasing the cost of doing business.
Under the proposed national CPP enhancement, the maximum payout would become $17,500, after a few years of transition.
