The Belleville Police Service responded to 62 calls for service between June 20th, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. and June 21st, 2016 at 5:00 a.m.
Accidents
Belleville, Ontario – On June 20th, 2016, at 8:25 a.m. a southbound car on North Front Street at Donald Street turned into the path of a northbound car which turned out to be a marked CN Police cruiser. After the collision, the southbound car failed to remain as it drove away from the scene of the accident. This car was located by responding units several blocks away. The driver was arrested for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. A further check revealed that the driver was a prohibited driver. The vehicle also had unauthorized, expired licence plates on it. Michael William White, 34 years of age, from Warkworth, was held for a bail hearing on June 20th, 2016. Additional charges included breach of probation and left turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision. White’s bail hearing was remanded to June 21st, 2016. Both the CN cruiser and the accused’s vehicle were towed. Neither driver sustained any injuries.
On June 20th, 2016, at 2:25 p.m. officers attended on South Pinnacle Street at St. Paul Street in relation to a two-car accident. Both cars were towed from the scene. A 61 year old Belleville woman was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. There were no reported injuries.
