Fast work by Quinte West firefighters stopped what could have been a major fire at a Trenton textile plant yesterday afternoon.
Flames were seen coming through the roof at Parker Brothers Textiles, a longtime manufacturer of fabrics, on Film Street around noon.
At the same time, roofers were working on the roof.
The fire was spreading in the attic area of the old building, but firefighters put the flames out quickly.
Damage was minor, and the cause is under investigation. No one was injured.
Meanwhile, because of the dry weather, an outdoor burn plan is again in place in Quinte West.
