Belleville Police helped to take some unsafe vehicles off the road yesterday, as part of a commercial traffic enforcement blitz involving other police and government organizations.
33 vehicles were checked near the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, as part of the program involving the ministries of environment, transportation and finance, along with Kingston Police and OPP.
Nine vehicles, or 25% of those checked, were taken out of service, mostly for serious defects like brake or structural issues.
There were also 12 charges laid by the Ministry of Transportation and a total of nine charges by the ministries of environment and finance, for environmental and tax violations.
