The Chicago Blackhawks made a trade yesterday that was likely made with Belleville native Andrew Shaw in mind.
Chicago dealt forwards Teuvo Terevainen and Bryan Bickell to Carolina for a second and third round draft pick. The deal frees up about 5 million dollars in salary cap space that should help them re-sign Shaw who is a restricted free agent next month. Shaw is due a significant raise over his 2.5 million dollar salary last season.
Teravainen had 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points in his first full NHL season.
