The Ontario Municipal Board has handed down its decision regarding a proposed motocross track in Tweed, but not everyone is happy.
OMB Chair Mary Ann Sills told the hearing in Tweed Wednesday she is “satisfied that the motocross application meets zoning and provincial policy standards.”
Resident John Brewer, who lives one kilometre away from the proposed site, addressed the hearing about his concerns.
Brewer later told Quinte News he and cottagers nearby, who pay full taxes, will suffer from the noise.
Owner Paula Cassidy had told Quinte News earlier this year that only two or three events a year were planned .
Hastings County Planner Justin Harrow says the owners Paul and Paula Cassidy still have to have a detailed acoustical assessment done on the property on Old Hungerford Road.
Harrow said the Holding provision on the zoning would not be removed until the requirements are met.
These include a buffer zone, “a 100 metre setback with vegetation” will have to be established on the property.
Paula Cassidy had said she hoped to get the project underway this year.
Harrow says it would depend on getting the acoustic study and peer review done in time.
Sills made it clear that if these requirements were not met the project would not proceed.
