An effort by residents in Brighton to stop or modify a proposed subdivision has failed.
Last month, after 2 days of hearings the Ontario Municipal Board denied the appeals of 4 residents protesting a zoning by-law allowing the development of the so called “Lakeside Landing” subdivision.
Some neighbouring property owners have long complained of fill dumping causing flooding on their properties. The Lakeside Landing property is owned by developer, and Mayor of Brighton, Mark Walas.
Recently a Brighton staff report said the ponding was actually on Lakeside Landing property and that some homeowners were encroaching on the property.
The 45 home proposal received draft plan approval 8 years ago.
After the OMB ruling, Brighton planning staff will continue working to finalize a subdivision agreement.
