Belleville City Councillors will be looking at a letter from the Downtown Improvement Area tonight, which will ask them to put some rules and limitations on skateboarding in the city core.
The BDIA’s Erica Holgate tells Quinte News, Belleville is one of a few cities that doesn’t already have a downtown skateboarding by-law and they want to protect all of the new investments being made.
Holgate says the by-law will be simple and will ask that skateboarders walk with their boards downtown and not ride them.
Council will have to decide whether or not it wants to implement a by-law and then have staff draft it and bring it back for approval.
