A new one million dollar fire station serving the rural part of Belleville was officially opened Saturday.
Station # 3 is located along Old Highway 2, right at the border with Tyendinaga Territory.
The new hall has four bays and lots of space for training and equipment storage.
It replaces the building in Point Anne, which is over 100 years old, and has served as a firehall for almost 50 years.
Belleville Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Greatrix says the new hall will provide better service to the east end and provide faster access to highway 401 and the middle part of Thurlow ward as well.
Twenty-six volunteers firefighters will be based out of the new hall.
