A new all-terrain vehicle to help paramedics get to remote areas is now in service in the Hastings County – Quinte area.
The idea is to expand emergency services to areas that are difficult to access, particularly in forests and at remote lakes.
Acting Chief of Emergency Services John O’Donnell told the Hastings-Quinte Joint emergency Services committee Wednesday the new Difficult Access Response Team vehicle will allow easier access.
O’Donnell says the new vehicle carries a full-size stretcher in the back that can be easily transferred to the ambulance.
He says some staff are being trained on the all terrain vehicle which is based at the Millennium Parkway ambulance base in Belleville.
