There truly is power in numbers – 308 to be exact.
At their fourth meeting Wednesday night, 100+ Women Who Care Quinte proved that again and after 183 votes were tallied, $18,300 was donated to the Three Oaks Foundation.
The Foundation has offered shelter and services to abused women and children in Belleville, Quinte West, Hastings County and Prince Edward County for 33 years.
Three Oaks Executive Director Sandy Watson-Moyles told the crowd that in 2015, 128 women and 85 children utilized Three Oaks services.
“That’s an outrageous number in a small community such as this,” said Watson-Moyles.
She said the funding will go to fund services like their second stage housing that relies solely on community support.
A cheque presentation will take place at a later date with the exact funding total.
The next 100+ Women Who Care Quinte meeting will be held on their one year anniversary on September 7 at The Stache at 7:30 p.m.
