A Deseronto man has been arrested in connection with a fire in the town this past Tuesday.
Deseronto Firefighters were able to save some of the multi-unit rental property, at 313 Main Street, but the building still suffered extensive damage from the blaze.
An investigation by OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal led them to 33 year-old Gregory Neiman, who was arrested and charged with arson.
Investigators then searched Neiman’s Deseronto home and found a rifle and assorted stolen property, including credit and ID cards, GPS devices and jewellery.
They also allege while firefighters were on the scene, Neiman broke into the fire hall and stole items from there as well.
Additional charges of break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property and possession of an unauthorized firearm were also laid.
Neiman was held in custody and will be in court on June 6th.
