The City of Belleville has extended their possible partnership with an unnamed hockey entity.
According to city officials, talks continue under a current Memorandum of Understanding.
An MOU is often used between two organizations to continue serious talks, a step above the Non-Disclosure Agreement and Letter of Interest the city held, with the same unnamed group.
Rumour has swirled around who it may be, including the possible relocation of the Binghamton Senators, however they recently signed a lease extension in the New York State town.
To make things more interesting, Belleville native Mark Crawford was also named an associate coach with the Ottawa Senators , and liaison with Binghamton.
The city has requested drawings for infrastructure renovations to the Yardmen Arena.
If approved, council would spend up to $7 million on a new ice pad (likely NHL size), new boards, glass and a chiller.
Installations could begin as early as March, 2017.
Drawings for the work are expected in council’s hands by the end of June.
