The City of Belleville has taken a massive step in implementing cycling infrastructure.
That’s the word from local cycling supporters as the ribbon was officially cut on the city’s first bike lanes, running north-south along Yeomans Street.
Belleville on Bikes Chair Rob Jakes tells Quinte News, it’s a significant day for riders in the city.
And Jakes says the project shows some good foresight from City Council and municipal staff.

The Yeomans lanes are just the first kilometre-and-a-half of bike infrastructure to be installed, with 30 kilometres to be done within the next three years.
Councillor Egerton Boyce says the next step is to continue the cycling link on North Park Street.
The launch coincides with the start of Bike Month across the city.
