A decision is coming soon on how surgery will be handled by Quinte Health Care.
The main issue being dealt with by officials is what to do with the plan to move 2,200 surgeries a year to Belleville General Hospital from Trenton Memorial.
Recently, that move was “paused” by the Minister of Health after a public uproar about the decision.
Quinte Health Care officials had chosen to move the surgeries to save money.
Yesterday, behind closed doors, Quinte Health Care and Southeast Local Health Integration Network officials discussed the issue.
LHIN CEO Paul Huras says he expects a decision on what comes next will be announced soon, either in June, or in July at the latest.
All options are on the table, including keeping the surgeries at Trenton Memorial, moving them to Belleville, or some other option.
