A new pavilion has been added to the Belleville Children’s Safety Village, behind the police station, to honour a former board member and crucial partner in building the facility.
Safety Village Board President Richard Hanson tells Quinte News the Jake Nelson Memorial Pavilion was unveiled today, to honour the former Quinte Home Builder’s Association member, who was a key in getting the village off the ground in 2002.
The safety village was first started to teach students in grades two-through-four in various safety matters and says it’s come a long way since that time, but they are looking to expand their programs.
Also today, the Belleville Lion’s Club handed over a cheque for $10,000.
