It seems there’s a resolution to the situation involving a local school and the parents of a late student, who lost a battle with cancer earlier this year.
Thomas Martin’s parents were upset after the principal at Queen Elizabeth School had asked them to stop attending pizza lunches with Thomas’ friends and to not mention their son, during the recent Pedal for Hope Campaign.
In a release today, the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board says Martin’s parents met with Superintendant Mark Fisher and the school’s principal and have been invited to start volunteering at pizza lunches again, as of next week.
In a statement, Fisher says they “regret the situation” and “this is about being caring, inclusive and respectful of everyone who was part of Thomas’ life and the school community”.
