Life is going to change for some in the west end of Belleville a week from now.
A week from now, the gate will swing across what’s known as the Nortel Road, a private road linking North Palmer with Avaya, One to One Fitness, and Strathcona Energy and to Sidney Street.
The road will no longer be open to either vehicles or pedestrians.
The road and large field have long been used by many people of all ages.
A tennis court, and soccer and ball fields are no longer usable.
Strathcona Energy now owns the property and CEO Karl Hollett says waivers would have to be signed by every person using the road and property and that would be impossible.
The CEO adds that Strathcona cannot afford the liability risk and is following its insurers advice.
