The Quinte community is continuing to help out families displaced by wildfires in Fort MacMurray and area.
This morning, the ownership of Penzoil Petro Canada on Dundas West, presented the local Red Cross chapter with a cheque for just over $5,000.
The service station had collected just over $2,500 in public donations, which were matched by the owner and then handed over to the Red Cross, with those donations to be matched again by the federal government.
Locally schools, church groups and single donors have made enormous contributions, with the Red Cross saying it’s raised more than $100 million dollars Canada-wide.
