The curtain came down on a record setting season for the Trenton Golden Hawks. The host Lloydminster Bobcats dominated the final 40 minutes of their RBC Cup semi final defeating Trenton 6-2. Despite outshooting the Golden Hawks 22-7 in the second period, “Lloyd” could only muster a one goal lead going into the third. However three unanswered goals including one into an empty net salted away the win. The final shots were 38-20.
Danny Hanlon and Lucas Brown scored for Trenton.
Head Coach/General Manager Jerome Dupont wasn’t happy with the way his team responded in an elimination game.
Golden Hawks Co-Captain Adam Clements didn’t let the last game of the season spoil the great memories the team had throughout the year.
The Golden Hawks set franchise records for wins and points while capturing their first OJHL Championship and Dudley Hewitt Cup.
The Bobcats advance to today’s (Sunday’s) RBC Cup championship game against the West Kelowna Warriors. They beat the Brooks Bandits 4-1 in the other semi-final.
