James Hagerman and Samantha Gough have found respite from the wildfires of Fort McMurray in the Quinte region.
Gough, a Stirling native, met Hagerman in his hometown of Fort McMurray just over a year ago after she moved out there after university.
The couple described hearing the news of the spreading wildfires while at work and though they initially discounted the seriousness of the disaster, they quickly realized the gravity of the situation as their flight gave them a first hand account of the fires.

The pair are currently staying with Gough’s mother in Stirling, as a result they had a chance to attend Wednesday night’s Rock 4 Relief.
The couple who is expecting their first child in August were humbled by the response of the Belleville community coming together to support their western brothers.
