A section of County Road 30 near Brighton is closed, while crews clean-up after a tractor trailer crashed and spilled thousands of kilograms of cane sugar this morning.
The truck, carrying 55,000 kilos of the sweet stuff, went into the ditch on County Road 30 near the hamlet of Hilton, around 2:00 a.m.
OPP Constable Steve Bates spoke to Quinte News at the scene today, and he says there was a minor diesel spill as well.
Bates says, at this point, it’s still too early to tell what caused the crash.
In order to get the truck out and finish clean up County Road 30 is now completely closed between County Road’s 41 and 26.
That closure should last about three hours and we’ll update you when the road opens again.
