The community organization to provide fresh vegetables and fruits to food banks and meal programs “Fresh for All” launched its second year Monday.
The idea is that if you are planting a vegetable garden this summer, simply add an extra row or two that can be shared at harvest time.
Fresh for All spokesperson Cherie Hardy says sometimes farmers help.
But she says smaller donations are good as well.
According to the 2014 Canadian Community Household Survey 11.5% of all Hastings-Prince Edward households experienced food insecurity, an increase of 600 people since 2012.
Officials say everyone is invited to participate in the 2016 Fresh for All campaign – individuals, families, agencies, businesses, clubs, churches and schools.
