As the only undefeated team after two games the Trenton Golden Hawks have already assured themselves a berth in Saturday’s RBC Cup semi final. A win over the Western Canada Cup champion West Kelowna Warriors tonight and Trenton will be assured a first place finish in the round robin. That in fact is now Trenton’s goal as it would assure them the earlier semi final game on Saturday which would allow a few extra hours rest before a potential trip to Sunday’s championship game.
Coach and General Managr Jerome Dupont says a 2-0 record takes some of the pressure off his team however adds the Hawks can still play better. He noted they were at their best over the final 7 minutes of Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Carleton Place Canadians.
The West Kelowna Warriors (38-17-2-1) are this year’s Cinderella team. Despite a third place finish in the regular season, West Kelowna won the B.C. Hockey League Championship and then the Western Canada Cup over the favoured Brooks Bandits even though they were not among the top 20 rated teams in the Canadian Junior Hockey League this season.
CJBQ 800 and cjbq.com will have the play by play for Dow’s Climate Care beginning at 5:20 Eastern time Tuesday.
