On Sunday May 8th, 2016, at approximately 6:45 p.m. Quinte West OPP responded to an anonymous complaint of a possible impaired man sitting in a parked vehicle at a Dundas Street East business in Trenton. The anonymous caller stated that the man was behaving strangely and yelling.
Police located the man a short time later still sitting in the parked vehicle. Police investigation led to the arrest of the man for care and control of a motor vehicle while being impaired. The accused was transported to the Quinte West OPP detachment where he failed to provide a suitable sample of breath for analysis. The investigation also revealed that the motor vehicle had been taken by the accused without the owner’s consent.
A 39 year old Belleville resident has been charged with the following offences:
Care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired
Fail or refuse to provide a sample of breath for analysis
Theft of a motor vehicle
Having care and control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor (Liquor License Act)
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and will appear in court later this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
