This week is Mental Health Week and across the country people are encouraged speak out in an effort to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness.
The annual initiative is spearheaded by The Canadian Mental Health Association and it falls in line with its 65th anniversary.
This year’s theme is Get Loud and Executive director of the CMHA Hastings-Prince Edward Branch, Sandie Sidsworth says it takes recovery to the next level.
Sidsworth says councillors are completing assist training until Tuesday to help others who may be considering suicide and on Wednesday they will undergo a workshop called ‘Living under the Umbrella.’
On Friday the CMHA will be going out with mental illness literature and thanking community members with Hugs & Kisses chocolate.
If you or someone you know needs to reach out for support you can contact the CMHA at (613) 969-8874.
