It looks like the Belleville Police Service may take legal action against a local social media user, if some things don’t change.
A letter from Kingston-based lawyer Kees Kort, addressed to Twitter user @Dickiebuckshot says the service takes exception to some tweets about members of the service and the police chief.
The letter says the tweets “go far beyond legitimate expression”and warns that if the user doesn’t “cease the activity immediately”, the law firm will take “any and all appropriate legal action, damages and remedies.
The Twitter user, who asked his real name not be used, tells Quinte News he’s spoken to his own lawyer and will follow the letter’s advice and “tone things down”.
Calls to the firm representing the police board have yet to be returned.
