Belleville Police say a nearly two-hour standoff with a distraught man yesterday ended peacefully.
Officers were called to a home in the city’s east end, around 4:25 p.m. and found the man in some distress and holding a knife.
Members of the Emergency Response Team and a police negotiator were called in and convinced the 49 year-old to come out of the house and surrender.
Nobody was injured, but the man was taken to hospital for evaluation.
There’s no word on any charges.
