The Special Investigations Unit is looking into an incident in Bancroft, where OPP officers found a 26 year-old man dead in a home on Highway 28.
Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, members of the Bancroft detachment and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit went to the home near Egan Chutes Provincial Park, to execute a search warrant, in connection with a reported assault and threatening behavior earlier.
Officers waited until about 10:00 p.m. before entering the home and when they did, found the man’s body.
The SIU investigates any police incident that involves reported death, serious injury or allegation of sexual assault.
A spokesman says four investigators and two forensics investigators have been assigned to the case, which involves one subject officer and 13 witness officers.
No other details were released.
