The Environmental Review Tribunal has issued a complex decision regarding land clearing for the WPD White Pines wind energy project in Prince Edward County.
Yesterday, the Tribunal forced a delay in any vegetation clearing in the lands designated as spring foraging habitat for the endangered Blanding’s Turtle.
The Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County, which is fighting to stop the 27 turbine development, says the decision makes no mention of the clearing of other types of habitat on the property.
The Alliance is consulting with its lawyer regarding further appeals.
The Tribunal has yet to schedule hearings to hear what remedies to habitat destruction WPD White Pines will offer to minimize harm to turtles and other species.
