It’s been 36 years since Trenton last celebrated a junior hockey championship. The drought could end tonight.
The Golden Hawks are home to the Georgetown Raiders for the 5th and possibly deciding game of the Ontario Junior Hockey League final for the Frank Buckland Trophy and the right to play in the Dudley Hewitt Cup.
Despite the 3-1 lead, the series couldn’t be any tighter. With the exception of an empty netter all four games have been decided by one goal. Tender Daniel Urbani expects the Golden Hawks will try to approach this game like any other.
The last Trenton junior team to win a title was in 1980 when the Bobcats under Floyd Crawford won the Sutherland Cup. And they did that in Windsor.
Game time is 7:30 tonight at the Dunc and it’s sold out. CJBQ will have the play by play at 7:20 for Dow’s Climate Care.
