A familiar face at Brighton council meetings has spent her last evening at the municipal offices at 35 Alice Street.
Longtime reporter Joyce Cassin covered her final meeting on Monday, rounding out a nearly 20-year career following the events of the municipality.
Cassin has worked for Quinte News and various other media outlets, covering Brighton since 1997 and has decided to make a personal move to Freedom, Pennsylvania.
The sentiment amongst councillors is that she’ll be sorely missed, with Deputy Mayor Brian Ostrander joking that since her last night fell on his birthday, “no politician could get a better gift, than a reporter leaving.”
The news team here at Quinte Broadcasting extends a sincere thank you to Joyce for all of her contributions and hard work, we wish her all the best as she heads south.
