Supporters of children with autism will be holding a demonstration in Belleville this Friday.
The event is to protest the government’s decision to change the eligibility of autistic children to receive behaviour services.
IBI, or Intensive Behavioural Intervention used to be offered to all severely autistic children, however the province will now restrict the service to those five and younger.
Stephanie Reid has two children with autism and is the protest organizer.
The government will provide all families with $8,000, however Reid says IBI costs $30,000 to$40,000 annually.
The protest is Friday at 12:00 p.m.. at the southeast corner of Bell Boulevard and North Front Street.
