There may be a bit of a downward trend in connection with the high rate of teenage pregnancies in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
Hastings Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health Dr. Richard Schabas says the area has had an ongoing issue with teenage pregnancy rates higher than the provincial average; twenty percent higher.
He says it’s related to to the rural area.
Schabas says the health unit has been working to help lower the rate and it is getting a bit better.
