Officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were notified of a domestic disturbance that occurred at a residence in Napanee on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 7 a.m.
The female victim contacted police after fleeing her residence.
At 11 a.m. police located the suspect, the woman’s boyfriend, operating a vehicle in Napanee. The vehicle was stopped and the male was arrested for assault and taken to the Napanee OPP detachment where he was held for a bail hearing.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 11:13 a.m. officers with the Napanee OPP Crime Unit executed a Search Warrant at a residence in Napanee which resulted in the seizure of one handgun, six rifles, a shotgun, eleven magazines of which five were prohibited magazines, assorted rounds of ammunition, a gold chain and pendant and $1,700 in cash.
A 33 year-old Napanee man faces the following charges:
Assault
Overcome resistance by attempting to choke
Uttering a threat to cause death
Fail to comply with probation
Mischief under $5,000
Theft under $5,000
Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
Careless storage of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
Possession of a prohibited device contrary to a Prohibition Order
Possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
