A councillor in the Municipality of Brighton is questioning how a recent closed meeting of council was called.
In fact, councillor John Martinello walked out of the meeting before the discussion began on the recruitment of a new CAO.
The meeting occurred Tuesday March 29, 2016 and included consultants hired to recruit a CAO and Public Works Director.
Martinello said he was given an agenda 15 minutes before the meeting and that the press and public were not made aware of the meeting until the time it began.
Martinello says the way the meeting was called broke council’s procedural by-law and in an e mail says the by-law has been broken on several occasions.
Councillors Baker and Vink were not present at the meeting.
