The South East LHIN is supporting continued funding for assisted living services for high risk seniors in Hastings County and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in particular.
The LHIN board has approved continued funding up to one-point-eight million dollars to support 120 clients for the assisted living services for the high-risk seniors.
The premise is there are individuals living in the community that are more likely to require services such as acute care and long term care home.
The South East LHIN has the lowest investment directed toward this as compared to other LHINs in the province.
The goal is to help the targeted seniors to maintain their independence and are maintain their homes as long as possible without being prematurely institutionalized.
The services include personal support services, homemaking services and security checks.
The local LHIN is in conversation with municipalities around developing designated units in municipal buildings.
