The Belleville Police Service responded to 55 calls for service between 5:00 a.m. 24 March 2016 and 5:00 a.m. 25 March 2016.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
On 24 March 2016 at 9:21 a.m. the Belleville Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle rollover collision on Old Highway 2 east of Elmwood Drive. The 50 year old male driver was not injured. No charges were laid.
Less than 15 minutes later at 9:35 a.m. a little further to the east of the first collision on Old Highway 2, police, fire-rescue and EMS responded to second collision involving 2 vehicles. 2 persons received non-life threatening injuries. A 32 year old female driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.
Disturbances
On 24 March 2016 at 3:46 p.m. Belleville Police Service responded to a disturbance on Front Street in the common area of an apartment building. A 21 year old man was arrested for public intoxication and being a danger to others and was held in the cells until sober and charged under the Liquor License Act
On 24 March 2016 at 6:35 p.m. Belleville Police Service responded to a disturbance on North Front Street near Tracey Street where a man was walking in traffic, acting aggressively and spitting on vehicles. A 40 year old man was located and subdued by Officers. He was lodged in the cells until sober and charged with Public Intoxication under the Liquor License Act.
Drugs
On 24 March 2016, members of the Belleville Police Service, assisted by members of the OPP executed 4 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants in Belleville.
As a result of the search warrants police seized a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, morphine, heroin, cash, digital scales and ammunition.
Two persons were charged as a result of the search warrants:
A 39 year old male and a 34 year old female from Belleville are charged with the following drug related offences. Both were held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.
Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Heroin
Possession of Morphine
Possession of Proceeds of Crime
